These three comic book titles are must-reads.
New comic book day is great when you’re a fan. Some weeks are full of so many titles that you don’t know which ones to grab. This week, a few titles stuck out. Here are the three that are must-reads.
No. 1 Comic Book Pick: Nightwing
Issue: No. 86
Writer: Tom Taylor
Artist: Robbi Rodriguez
This writer understands how great Dick Grayson (Nightwing) is. However, Tom Taylor’s recent comic book run has made him a fan. In the most recent issue of Nightwing (a Fear State comic book crossover) Dick teams up with Batgirls (Barbara Gordon, Cassandra Cain, and Stephanie Brown) and Red Robin to take out Simon Saint’s floating fortress. This issue shows how skilled each Bat-Family member is. Plus, it’s incredibly entertaining. This writer strongly suggests making this series a must-read.
Second Comic Book Pick: Shang Chi
Issue: No. 6
Writer: Gene Luen Yang
Artist: Dike Ruan
In five issues of the recent Shang Chi run, writer Gene Luen Yang had Shang fight some of Marvel’s greats. Taking on Wolverine and Iron Man is one thing. This comic book had Shang Chi fight a god. Not just any deity, he took on the God of Thunder, Thor. See how Shang Chis held his own against Asgard’s greatest god.
Sleeper pic: Marvel: Dark Ages
Issue: No. 3 (of 6)
Writer: Tom Taylor
Artist: Iban Coello
Here comes that name again. Tom Taylor created a Marvel Comics world where there’s no electricity. Marvel Dark Ages issue No. 1 shows readers the cataclysmic incident that took the world’s power. Part 2 explained how the world moved on. It also showed that there’s still evil left to fight. Apocalypse captured Magento and is using him for electrical power. Issue No. 3 brings more death and tragedy to the heroes. If you don’t want to buy the first two issues, you can still start here.
